I went to Mar-k website and they give the detail for the cutting of the wood, also a lot of good suggestions on what materials really hold up. The original wood was #2 yellow pine and final finish was black. (lil red was correct on his detal)

I cut the wood to size, dido blades the edges as Mar-K showed, primed the wood with chasis saver satin black and am just getting ready to final coat with UV resistant Baehr black paint, I think it will look good with polished S/s hardware

I could not find the Mar-K diagram on line that gives the detail of the wood if you want to do it yourself. I bought my wood locally trimmed it, sanded it, didoed the edges and painted it. the wood only cost 60.00.....Kieth

Kieth, do you have a 6 foot step side or 8 foot fleetside ?? If its a fleetside , did you buy 10 foot boards and cut them to the 8 foo 1 inch length ?? All the lumber for $60 ?? Seems like a screamin deal....Bruce Kile

I have a SWB Fleetside, I bought the wood from Economy lumber in Tulsa, Ok. They supply a lot of production grade wood to companies, I went through a whole bundle of it and cherry picked it, I did purchase longer pieces than needed so I could pick the part of the board I needed I think mainly 8' (reason it was cheaper) here is a link to what it looked like after trimming, have not posted any pictures of it painted yet but it ended up being some pretty good wood. Here is a link, ps each truck is different, I have a 65 chevy 8' long bed and the width of the boards is arranged differently than the 66 swb.......Kieth
