The wife got me a mikita polisher for my birthday. I'm in heaven with this thing. Question: how do you clean the bonnet? Do not say the washing machine. (You know why!) What else? Thanks guys!!
Theres actually a special little Hand held tool for that that Has Several star shaped wheels on it that Spin While Your holding it with it running . Although I Find A good Blower nozzle on with good airpreasure works just as well . But a little water on it during cleaning only Helps get the Compound buildup out of it . Wool Pads are Great for Really fast Cutting with an agresive compound , But can have a tendency to Burn the paint if not wet enough or to high of RPM . But for buffing or Polishing todays Basecoat clearcoat paint. You,ll find the different Foam pads & grades of Compound work much better. I Use the 3m Perfect 3 system But theres others that work good to . Hope that helps . Bob Woops I just reread & Noticed You said Bonnet . If thats the type that Tyes tight with a string . Then It aint a Real buffer or polisher & going to cause You more grief then not when it Flys off .
If you don't have them already, pick up a set of foam pads for the polisher.. I ONLY use Adam's pads and products for machine polishing. You would really have to work hard to burn through clear coat and paint using foam pads !! http://www.adamspolishes.com/ Dennis
