Since I'm 99% sure on the gasser look I stumbled across a 1955 331 Caddy motor, would this be a good motor to swap the 235 six for? I know nothing about these motors. Just seems like kind of a cool motor for a gasser :p

These were the first of the modern style GM v8. Very nostalgic engine for the nostalgia buffs. My uncle has one in a 49 Caddy that I have been trying to get off of him. He used to race it back in the day. The 331 doesn't have a water jacket running through the intake, so changing it is a breeze. The one in my uncle's caddy has a single 4 barrell sitting on it, in the back seat is a manifold with 2 4's and one with 3 2's.

It would be a period correct engine for a gasser from back in the day.

You are a fountain of knowledge, I have got to take a trip and come meet you and sit down and talk (not to mention see that green truck in person).
This one has a single 4bbl on it but from what I'm reading everything is high dollar to mess with on these. and trans adpt. kits are like $700.00:eek::eek:
That is NOT in the budget, for that kind of money by the time I go through the motor could have a big block, not period correct but have tons of power I'd never use! LOL

Caddy is out, to much $$$$$ for me, for that kinda cash I'd look for an old hemi instead. Parts to redo them are big bucks, and they dont hop up well so I'm told. Better off to look for an old 472 and just go BIG!:p But for now inliner and keep it simple
