    Let's not forget...

...what Andy's thumb went through with that tranny that is already in there. Swapping ring gears would prolly be a walk in the park compared to messing with tranny removal _again_.

    Speaking Of Trannies And Rain...

    We were , weren't we ?

To-day during break I drained two quarts of watery oil out of my gearbox....

Doggone it , I wonder how long before the bearings begin to rumble and I'll have to rebuild it .

Bummer:(. But knowing these old 'bolts it will likely be quite a while.

Andy, If you do go to a open drive shaft you dont have to change out the whole transmission. You only need to change the rear part of trans and the yolk. Very easy!! Chris

    Thanks Chris,

That's very cool as I don't want to take the Muncie out again and it is a very good box. I thought I could do that, just forgot about it. This can be done while the unit is in the truck???

    Hmmmm....

    Chris, how the~ what the~

I've been looking at the drive shaft of my '52 3/4 G for a while now. It has the open back end, but where the shaft goes into the tranny looks more torque-tube-ish. I've been wondering about removing the carrier and going one piece shaft. I've also wondered about the perch thing when I upgrade to a newer rear end. Can you use the perch kits CP offers and just flip them? (Since 3/4s have the springs on top, and not on the bottom?)

    Thanks for any advice!
