Guten Tag,
If it is a "Donut" core, you may want to check with Maine Radiator. They provided me with one that is performing perfectly.
I am running a 0 psig radiator cap and the cooling system is functioning very well. <180 degrees F.
This is for a 1953 1/2 ton with a 1960 235 engine.

Hello and Guten Tag,
I took a photo from my heater inside the cab. And I think the water comes out of one of the tubes where the hoses will be connected from the water pump.
The heater which is in my truck is surely not original. Look at the photo.

Doesn't look like either of the two heaters that I am familiar with that came with these trucks. Best bet would probably be to pull it and disassemble then bring the core to a radiator shop to match it up or repair it. If there are numbers on the core that might help or if there are numbers or brand name on the heater box that may help too.

Heater rep.

Hey Wolfgang

if Your pleased with the one you have i would suggest to remove the heater and open it up and see inside whats wrong with it. If your heater core is toasted its fully posseble to replace it or have the brass tube fixed. But maybe you would want a time right complete unit that fits the year of the truck ? You could place an ad here at the Chevy forum and see if there are some for sale , or using other Sources to find one !

Leaking Heater

Besides a leaking core, it is a possibility that the brass Inlet and or outlet tube has been crushed from over tightening of the hose clamp. It was on mine and it is repairable.

Hello,
the heater is repaired. I cut of the two brass tubes from the radiator and solder on it new copper tubes.
It wasn't hard to repair the heater.:D
