I would like to know if there is a steering column from a donor vehicle that will fit a '64 C-10. I plan on adding new wiring, and am looking for a tilt column without the column shift, that will work with new wiring. Or, do I need to go with an Ididit or Flaming River column. Trying to save a buck or two where I can.
As always, thanks for the help.

I heard of guys using a column from a 70s or early 80s van. Look on ebay just saw one a few days ago for a 64 or 65, might still be on there.

Hit the swap meets and look for a 70's GM van column. No ignition switch on the column.

It will work for your automatic tranny but not a manual. You will still need the linkage. Locar makes a cable linkage for a colum shift automatic tranny. If you are thinking about installing a 700r4 at a later date you will only have OD-2. Of course R, N, and Park will still work and the N safety switch will need an adjustment.

If you are planning on keeping the manual trans and floor shifter any tilt column, manual or automatic, will work. The 70's van columns do not have the ignition switch on the column so they "look" kinda factory.

At one time I saw a supplier that carried a column adapter that replaced the shift collar with a blank collar. I've lost that link or catalog. Anyone else seen anything like that ?

The column will be a bolt in. See if the guy will sell the power steering pump and brackets too. Pick up a REZ engineering adapter to bolt the the power steering gear box to the frame rail, and you will get power steering too !!

    53 chev steering column swap

After I registered I discovered that this site is for trucks. Is it permissable to ask questions about classic cars, particularly a 53 Chev 210?
I saw a nice article on the internet from one of your members concerning a 53Chev column swap using an S-10 Column. Wish I could ask him a question.
    If not I understand.

    Thanks
