'79 Chevy p/u rearend on a '63 GMC

The width of the later rear is wider. Probably a total of 1 1/2 inches. You may need to change rear wheels with the correct backspacing to get the tires in the wheel wells.

I would bet that the leaf spring mounts on the differential will need work to line up with the GMC's leaf springs also.

So, yes, it will work, but with a little work... ;)
