the cab is all welded just waiting for sandblasting now . in the mids of fabricating a new box. will keep you guys posted.
Nice work Johan !! Just curious... Was there a reason you didn't sandblast the cab before welding ? FYI: You may consider "media" blasting instead of SAND. Sand blasting can be very harmful to sheetmetal if you are not careful. DV
I have to do it outside and it is winter here in ontario. so I did the welding first ,now we are waiting for a good day to do the blasting ,if we do find a bad spot ,we have to fix it after .
Johan, I'm from Ontario Canada (Basically Kitchener/Waterloo) and I"m also rodstoring a 65 short step... Where are you from?
Hi leyland A from Varney a small village just before Durham on highway 6 . north from waterloo. how far are you in your project ?and where do you get your parts from? like to see some picture's from your 65 .
Johan ahhh Varney Speed Way!, I know where you are.. I'm originally from Palmerston but living in Elmira now. Actually I know a Dave from Varney who always has a bunch of cars/trucks for sale out front on highway 6. I was looking at a blue 51 chevy 3800 last fall to build a off road truck. I wonder if he still has that truck for sale......... My 65 is has been on the road for 2 years but now its time to clean up the chasis and put disc brakes/power steering on the truck. I'm actually only days away from getting my truck into the new shop I built this winter. My next step will be pulling cab, box, motor etc. and modifying the frame for underbed gas tank before sending for sandblasting/painting. I'm looking for a local supplier for the disc brake kit, do you know where to get a reasonably priced kit without dealing with border crap?? how is your project coming? your frame looks really good
hello leyland try Bill truckshop ,he has new and used stuff . another thing you could do is to change the front cross member to a newer style from a truck out of the wrecking yard with swing arm and disch brakes all in one unit . am waiting for beter weather ,so we can sand blast all the body work . still have to find a gas tank for frame mounting . then the next project is the engine ,have a 350 what i like to bore and stroke to 383 .it has a th 350 tranny ,but some body give me a 700R4 what want to use . the rear end is 3.73 but not a posi .like to find a posi for it.
Hi Johan I'm glad to hear he still has that truck, now I just need to find the coin! Thanks. my number is 519-574-5886 (work cell) I wouldn't mind coming up for a drive one of these weekends to see your truck. You are welcome to come for a beer and check out my project if you are ever in the area. I have been dealing with Bills truck shop since I purchased my truck, He is a great fella. I had a problem with the new radiator I purchased, he sent a second one out overnight, no questions asked and told me to box up the damaged one in the same packaging for return. As usual, I only ask as its nice to be able to price/parts compare & maybe there is something more local to us. Cheers
