tailgate chain replacement

    Here is a challenge to you guys. Years ago I took off my tailgate chains and smoothed the tailgate. I used GM seat belt buckles to hold the gate shut. I have not figured out a good way to support the gate in the down position. any pictures or suggetions would be appreciated. With your help I may finish this project at some point. My next project is a Vintage Air system. thanks for the help and inspiration. Raking

    i used cables and bolts off a dodge dakota.

    I saw a hinge set up as well for tailgates It was in one of my custom truck mags. I belive Mark-K had the hardware Kilroy was here!!!!

    I did this with mine a few days ago..cables from an F150..my brother said its an abomination to use Ford parts...LOL:cool:

    BTW..used ford bolts, washers, some minor cutting, grinding and welding..
