Here's my 462ci that will go into my '63 C-10. Did the break-in this week, and will be getting ready for some 6000 rpm dyno pulls soon. On the last 5000 rpm pulls, it made (with no correction factor) 517 bhp at 5000 rpm and 580 ft-lb at 4200 rpm.

Thanks to David Basham of BMS Machine for the great machine work, and to Jeff Kauffman of Kauffman Racing Equipment for all of the trick parts and components. Eddie Leabo of Performance Carburetors built the 750 carb and Machine Tech Racing Engines is doing the break-in, tuning and, eventually, dyno pulls.

On the warm up stand...

drool !!!!!! ;)

Thanks, guys! I'm more of a GMC/Pontiac person, but got stuck with the Chevy C-10 and even my '63 Chevy II SS. Somewhere in a nearby parallel universe, I'm sure my twin has a '63 GMC Custom short fleet and a '63 Pontiac Tempest. Since I'm going to put this Pontiac in my C-10, do you think my twin is in the process of dropping a BBC in that '63 GMC?

462 Pontiac Update

Well, after working on other peoples' projects for a couple of months, I finally got around to completing the final dyno pulls, and now I'm mocking up the serpentine pulley drive system (the ATI Super Damper and crank trigger wheel throws everything out of alignment), and made cardboard templates for the two-piece front motor plate.

Very impressive. It's refreshing seeing something besides a small block Chevy under the hood, I've always loved Pontiac V8. It's like an upgraded, better engineered Chevy.

very very nice sir, my pontiac buddy (owns-drives a 67 firebird) is drooling over that motor

Thanks! Here are the motor plates cut out of 6061 T6, contoured and bolted to the machined surface of the heads. Now, I'm cutting the steel plates to weld to the down tubes for the mounts.

I finally found a scanner to borrow. Here's the final dyno session print out...

A few parts finally arrived after the New Year, so I was able to finish up the serpentine drive system. I also sneaked in some time to tack together my 3-inch downpipe to snake around the frame on the passenger side...
