Check out my new door panel. I think it go's well with the inside of my 61. It was cheep and easy to do.
That looks pretty good, I like the pocket idea! a little extra storage never hurts. That heater/AC? unit is HUGE...
Yes I covered the steel panel with vinyl and the s.s. strip and pocket both came from a mid 70's Chevy truck. I used 1/8" masonite for the lower panel and glued some 1/2 round wood molding to it before covering it with vinyl also. Thanks for the compliments. I figured you guys would be my best critics.
The AC unit is Ac only. It was dealer installed between 60 and 63. You're right it is huge but I thought it would be a nice retro look . Besides that it puts out enough air to blow whats left of my hair back.
http://www.oldchevytrucks.biz/55_66/full.asp?page=113 The dealer installed ac was an option between 60 and 63 . 64 to 66 was a factory option. I looked for this for 2 years and had only seen one once on e bay before I ran in to some one who asked me if I wanted an ac unit for a 62 Chevy PU. I think I stole this thing for 50.00 I guess he did'nt know what he had. Scroll down to the bottom of the link to see how they did it in the 60's
Thanks for the information and the link. The Cool Pack A/C has a section in the 1960 Chevy shop manual, but yours is the first one I've ever seen, even in a photograph. $50 - that's one of those once in a lifetime deals. Good for you!
