oil pump pickup tube

    hi everyone

    im in the need of a 54 gmc 248 L6 oil pump pickup tube with screen. the one i have is badly rusted and screen is no good. i have checked out on the net and called shops and stores in 5 states. no luck. if anyone has one or know where to check i would appreciate. thanks bobby

    It seems like one time years ago I was able to use a small block Chevy pick up tube on a 235 oil pump. I had made a deep sump pan so I had to lengthen the tube. I did this by using a piece of tubing for a sleeve and cutting the pickup tube in half and sliding the ends in to the sleeve to the desired length and welding it together. It's always good to put a tack weld on the pickup tube where it go's in to the pump to keep it locked in to position. You might be able to use this idea and figure something out for yourself.....Big Tim :cool:
