54 Chev P/U 3/4 ton - trying to get away from the stock rims. Will the bolt on steering arm from a '56 1/2 ton fit to the stock 54 3/4 ton spindles ? Hopefully to allow room for rims.

Hi, This 54 3/4 ton was built originally to use split rims. The 8 lug rims that are not split rims rub on the tie rod. I want to know if the steering arms from a 56 1/2 ton that bolt on to the spindle will fit to the 3/4 ton spindle ? Thanks Guy

If I remember, F@#D 8 lug rims fit these old 8 lug drums. ?

Or you could just find an old 1/2 ton axle and bolt it on in place of that 8 lug thing that finding parts for is, well... not easy?

Welcome, BTW! Pictures of your truck?

    Rims

As you can see in these photos the rims are out there my truck is a 1 ton. Stock front and a shortened 78 1 ton on the rear.

Thanks for the reply. I have the axel for a 1/2 ton, but it looks like if I just change out the bolt on steering arm that bolts to the spindle (the tie rod connects to) would allow (and use the 1/2 ton tie rod) the needed room for the 8 lug wheel without the split rim.
Do you know if that will work?
    Thanks, Guy

No, the steering arm from a 1/2 wont work on a 3/4 ton spindle. The bolt holes are narrower on the 1/2 ton arm. Chris
