I met the guy that wrote that book. I was standing outside a restaurant on the top of North Peak (elevation 11,444 feet) at Keystone Colorado, waiting for some ski buddies to join me for lunch and he was there waiting for the fraternity brothers that he used as characters in the book to show up for lunch at the fancy restaurant next door. They get together yearly at some resort for a reunion. He said that the book (and more so the screenplay) stretched the truth a bit.
The _MAIN_ Thing Is : You're still here with us Bill . Having gown up in the day of deathtrap Motor Vehicles , so many were lost along the way . My buddy who teaches Automotive Design at The Art Center Of Design , got scared to drive or ride in his incredibly restored Fiat Multiplia and is slling it off ~ I guess he no longer drives anything old . Me , I'm on borrowed time and have been ever since 1968 when the rusty split rim on our 1962 K10 trash hauler blew just as we turned off Rt 9 , flipping us and the truck down a steep embankment , no one was even hurt that time , we continued using the truck after we dragged it back up from the fence with the '37 John Deere Model 'B' tractor ..... My long and windy point is : life is a precious gift , don't waste one singe moment of it . I'll drive my oldies daily unti I can't .

~ ttt ~ THANK YOU for reminding us Bill ! . I'll have to up grade the base lap belts in my '69 C/10 to three point lap & shoulder belts , I'm told there's some newer rig (S-10 or something) that's plentiful in junkyards and is much newer . After my broken back and now neck surgery , I'd best smarten up about safety belts because as we all know : " SAFETY KNOWS NO SEASON ! " .
