    New seat

Thanks for the response, Nate. The first time I restored this truck, I went the old school, original look. It had a T-5 transmission from an S-10 truck, and that worked fine with the bench seat. This time around, I'm going a little more modern. I've already got a 327 engine in it, but didn't...

    New seat

I realize this is an old thread, but after reading this post a while back, I did a search and almost immediately found the exact seat for my truck and bought it. Same color, leather, etc. Later on, I decided on a transmission that won't let the shifter clear a bench seat. If anyone is looking...

    Hydraulic clutch question

This is exactly what I was looking for. I knew that somebody, somewhere had done this. The pictures are great. My brake master cylinder is a Corvette master mounted under the floorboard, probably about where your clutch master is located, if I'm visualizing your setup correctly. So, if your...

    Hydraulic clutch question

Thanks, Nate, for the reply. Yeah, I've already decided that the hydraulic route is the way to go. I've ordered a Tilton bearing and master cylinder kit, which is supposed to be here Wednesday. Once I have all the parts and pieces, I can figure out how to make it work. Will keep you posted...

    Hydraulic clutch question

For some background, I did a small block conversion on my 1950 truck with a 327 engine from a '67 Chevelle, and used the bellhousing that was on the engine when I got it. I tried to use the original clutch fork but the space between the pivot ball and the center of the throwout bearing was...

    Gas Tank

Feel free! After all, I got the idea to use the '70 Mustang tank from Robs52truck to start with...

    Gas Tank

No, I didn't make that. The opening in the tank is 2 1/2" and the tube on the cap that mounts in the bed is 2". So I just did a search for a 2 1/2"-2" filler hose with a 45 degree bend and ordered it online. The hose is obviously too long, but until I get the bed back on I won't know how much...

    Gas Tank

I put a tape to my tank and it measures 32" from edge to edge. I have about a 1/2" clearance between the tank and the crossmember on both sides. I used 1" angle for the back and the sides of the support frame, and a piece of 1" square tubing across the front, and the tubing is for spacing. It...

    Gas Tank

I mocked mine up yesterday and like the positioning about where it is. I was able to leave the big brace between the frame rails and nothing is rubbing, and I can get another 1/8” separation when I bolt it all in. I think my filler neck is further forward than yours, so I should be good.

    Gas Tank

Robs52trk, do you have any pictures showing how you did the filler neck and gas cap in the bed? Fedex just delivered a 70 mustang tank, and I'm wondering how far forward from the tailgate the opening has to be. I like how your tank doesn't show from behind the truck.

    Awesome FB Group

I may be the last one to find this, but I stumbled onto a really neat Facebook Group called Chevy 3100 yesterday. Lots of great pictures, and parts for sale. Might be worth checking out for ideas, etc, if you don't already belong to the group.

    Short or Long?

Yes, I still have it, it's still in my truck. I probably won't get around to installing the V-8 for some time. I do know where there's a good 235 in Nicholasville, Ky, if you're looking for one. Guy wants $800 for it. PM me if interested.

    Bellhosing interchangeability

I have a '61 235 with a T-5 transmission in my '50 Chevy truck. I want to put a small block Chevy engine in it and was wondering if the bell housing that I'm using with the 235 will work with the small block engine. Any and all input/advice is appreciated. Thanks!

    Short or Long?

Thanks for the replies. For sure, it doesn't hurt to have some extra room in the engine compartment. Several years back, when I restored this truck, I did the mod putting a later model front suspension in the truck, which involved cutting 2 inches from the center of an '86 full size Chevy p/u...

    Short or Long?

I have a '50 5-window truck with a 235 engine in it at present. I'm rebuilding a 327 small block that came from my latest project and plan to put it in my truck. I'm in the process of gathering all the bolt on stuff for the engine (starter, alternator, water pump, etc) and was wondering whether...
