I have a 1972 c10 and I've been looking for a whole rear end but no one has one. I've been looking to swap a rear end from a 70 or 71, but I was told I couldn't because of the trailing arms. I want to stay away from welding the arms and i want to do it kinda right. Also I can't find anyone to rebuild it. Can someone point me in a direction I could go?

    Rear End Swaps

    I thought they were all interchangable from '67 ~ '72 .

What's different in the one you wanted to use ? .

Have you looked closely at and measured the two rear ends to check ? .

I have a '69 C/10and have not yet needed to swap a rear end but am always looking in the Junk Yards hoping to find a limited slip one .

You can swap rear ends as long as each truck has trailing arm/coil spring suspension. No welding involved however, the 71 and 72 rear ends are slightly wider than the previous years. Dont quote me and if memory serves (which it dont anymore) the 71 and 72 have 1-1/2" inch wider rear axle housings so as long as you stay 71-72 it should interchange, I've done several...More info would help, like whats wrong with the existing axle? Is it a 12-bolt? Got any pics? ~Mike Hill~
