yeah, like i said the guy i bought it from said he had some work done, but i've never messed with it. guess that'll be another thread, eh? and yeah, the oil lines are overkill, but they look pretty mean, eh? believe it or not i have some brand new ones from cp, but i couldn't find em in the mess of my garage when i was working on the truck, so NAPA came through with what you see there.

NAPA miscl part number 4755 is an aftermarket spin-on filter mount I used on Thunder when I found a crack in my original canister. It uses a restricted flow spin on filter. I had the oil lines made at a local hydraulic hose shop (braided stainless).

Excuse my dirty truck, been driving and not cleaned up.

    NEVER Apologize !

    Jim :

This is a TRUCK we're talking about here ! truck are for working & earning thier keep , then you can put yer foot up on the running board , pop the hood and a cold one and brag about the new bits you've fitted . :D

Remember too : I get the very best vintage hard parts off of oily , greasy , filth encrusted junkers as that oil all over prevents rust and corrosion....

The damned tranny was the wrong one

What is "restricted flow" and why would you want it?

Yeah , why ? it's a by-pass filter anyway so using a regular old full flow filter shouldn't hurt it .

    Right ? .

    Teach me please .

The restricted flow oil filter has a little bitty hole in it just like the canister filter it replaces. I am told that using a full flow filter wil result in loss of back pressure to the oil filter and will result in a significant loss of oil pressure.

I trust the NAPA vendor in town, he is an old school parts guy.

I would rather have full flow myself, but this takes some additional talented tinkering with the block and oil pump from what i have read.

When found the crack in my canister, I had just gotten Thunder back on the street. I went to the spin on filter becasue I could get back on the street without waiting on time to find, clean-up and paint an old filter canister.

It only leaked when pressured up on the highway, oiled everything with a fine mist under the hood.

I consider Nate's advice better than most and worth way more than we pay for it.

    Filter Typ

    Well Jim ;

I dunno ! it seems to me that the tiny line to the By-Pass oil filter is sufficient restriction , certainly if your dash gauge reads the same with the engine off idle , you'll be good to go .

Remember too : I put a lot of stock in seeing oil dribbling out of the rocker weep holes as that's the very furthest thing from the oil pump so if the engine has enough pressure & volume to push oil out the rocker weep holes , I'd not give it another thought .

That's my .02 CENTS , worth far less than what you paid for it .

FWIW , I once drove a 1962 C-60 1/2 the day , making deliveries whilst the snapped off oil pressure line pi$$ed oil out all over the engine compartment , it never ran out of oil and didn't hurt the engine any....

    It works fine

maybe when it breaks, I'll mess with it, but it works just as well as the by pass filter canister and is much less messy to service.

yeah, i noticed that there's no where to mount my stock horn on the manifold. maybe i can rig up a bracket or something. i'm guessing this is how it's supposed to mount up??

    Horn Mount

Pretty close ~ the bracket isn't supposed to have an 'S' bend in it .

Someone oughta replace that oil filler cap with one with a hose barb and connect the air filter nipple to it.....
