Hi Folks, I have a 1947 with bad side glass rattle. I installed the anti rattle strips however the glass "slap" when closing the door is bad. If anyone has suggestions on how to improve it would be great appreciated. Thanks Ron
New seals Ron - I replaced 3 pieces when rebuilding around the windows: the felt lined 'door glass channel', the 'beaded window seal' on the interior window trim piece and the 'outerrubber window seal' on the exterior. The last one required a couple hours work removing the original (now hard as rock rubber) out of the retaining track in 1/4" pieces...all three of these parts are sold by our host on page 7 of their catalog.
Check the how to assemble an Ad thread, I have steps showing these pieces. Also, make shure that the lower track at the back of the door is still intact. It is the piece that has the 2 screws in the door frame about halfway up. Mine had broken loose from the mount...the piece was still screwed in....and it would rattle.
Do as described above to eliminate the rattle. On the long 47-50 one piece side glasses we often use a 55-57 Chevy window clip with a roller on it that GM used to cushion the glass when the door is slammed and the window is partially down. Gm used two on the cars but one about midway on the bottom of the glass is enough. It seems to help prevent cracking which happens most often when new weather strip is in place and the door has to be shut hard to completely latch. Danchuck and other 55-57 suppliers have these rollers in their catalog.
Side Window Rattle Thanks everyone for your reply to my side window issue. I will follow up on all your suggestions, I just recently purchased this truck (first Chevy Truck) and trying to learn the "in's and out's". The truck has new weatherstrip along with hard closing doors, new felt glass run, new glass rubber (strip mounted to door) new anti rattle strip and the glass SLAP is BAD. The glass really slaps and rattles when down and closing the door, hope it does not crack. I forgot to mention that the glass is the long one piece side glass (no vent window). Thanks again, Ron

Ron ; WELCOME ! If you've not yet chopped it up , consider keeping your truck more than less stock(ish) as they're most reliable and funner to drive and work when properly equipped with an InLine 6 Banger engine . The guys here know anything you can imagine to ask , there are NO STUPID QUESTIONS ! .
