I had hei in my 62 and my 61 4x4 has it also, it fits fine. Its close to the firewall but I have no issues with it.

Its called a canister conversion kit. I got mine from Napa for about $10, made by Mr Gasket. Real easy to do....

Well, if you have the closed knuckle axle up front the only option is to change the axle to a newer front axle with disc on it. Nobody makes a kit...
