Anyone found a gas tank sending unit with a 3/8" outlet? I am keeping the stock in-the-cab tank but I am running a standard 350ci engine.
Worst case scenario I try to weld up my own with the resistors from a replacement 5/16" unit and some 3/8" steel brake line.
Thanks for any ideas for...
I have only found the deletes in junkyards. I still haven't found a GMC radio delete but the bowtie works ok. The little button deletes are sometimes hard to find in a usable state. I busted quite a few that were too rusted to be pried out of the donor.
On the firewall/floor panel I have...
I used this same harness. I didn't wire a fuse for main power but the fusible link suggestion is right on. What I did for the resistor was connect both spade ends to the same terminal bypassing the resistor.
I did set up relays for the headlights (you have to relay both the high and low...
The drag link is a direct replacement. The tie rod bar itself comes in a stronger upgraded version and one can get both new style tie rod ends or original style replacements (cup & trunion).
RE: Looking for a 235 out of any ye
And, if you want to drive to Montana there are several 235's in salvage yards up here. No idea about their condition.

Another option would be to use a 270. That was a stock option in the late fifties and the same 270 was used into the late 70's. I think the rear mounts are the same and the front mounts are still available readily. I ran mine until my 350 swap with two one...
RE: GMC and Chevy rearends differen
That looks like the h033 to me. It is definitely a Chevy-not Spicer/GMC-which means the Chevy Duty gear kit should fit. This is not uncommon on the GMC trucks.

RE: Stock temperature gauge/sender
One should always check the accuracy of the temperature gauge. Here is a good article (link) about how to check. This is as true for new in the box gauges as for old or salvaged gauges.

Question part the second,
Does anyone know the years that front hub was used? At least 55-59 I know and possibly as late as 62. Any earlier?

RE: GMC and Chevy rearends differen
Howdy,
The Spicer 45 is already geared perfect for a 3 speed transmission in the 3.07 ratio. I run mine with a 350/350TH combo (originally 3 on the tree). It will go 100 if you are foolish enough to try that. If you want to run it with a 400TH or some...
The horn wire is a brown wire that pokes out at the inside bottom of the steering column-just under the dash. It links into the harness via a spade connector. The same brown wire then pokes out of the harness under the hood into the horn relay on the firewall and then the actual wire to the...
Hello everyone,
I recently had my front bearing go out in the middle of Yellowstone. I took it apart and found the outside hub was reamed by the shattered bearing. To make matters worse it is a six lug hub. FWIW I was using the upgraded bearings-just bad luck. The spindle is still in...
If you don't have the manual for your particular year of vehicle then the best bet is to buy a cheap rebuild kit for your 2G carb. It will give you the specs. The drop is less crucial as it will bottome out most times before the spec'd measurement. It is the "full" position that is crucial to...
I need some advice on installing working brakes on a pickup bed that has been turned into a trailer. It has the original 58 Chevy 6 lug axle and hydraulic lines. Does anyone know if I can use the existing brakes or will I have to convert it to more modern drums or electric brakes?
Thanks...
with the firewall mounted pedal, will I have to move the exhisting emergency brake on my 59 GMC? I would love to have the swing pedal but not at the expense of changing the column.
Thanks
