    hello There
We are working on a 1954 advance design (bullnose)truck with a 235 and an automatic hydromatic transmission
The 6volt startermotor is worn out and we want to replace it with a 12volt
But we just can't seem to find one that fits.
It's waaaayy different then the footstarter motors that are on the 3onthetree engines.
the axle in the motor is thicker and the sprocket is thicker to
It is a 9 tooth sprocket but thicker
    Can anyone help us out,here?
any tip on what kind of car/truck they are used can help us in our search
    Thanks for all your reply's

    Tony

I noticed I'am on the wrong track here
the 6volt can be used as a 12volt but I have to take care one the the start procedure(not to long)
so I'll take it to the shop and let it get overhauled and try that option.
I'll let you know how it went
    Thanks for all your reply's

I'm insanely jealous of you having a Hydromatic Drive AD ! .

Anyway , if you don't want to overhaul it your own self , just order up one for a 1949 Powerglide equipped Sedan .

I don't know the P/N but using a 12 volt solenoid on the 6 volt starter in conversions like yours , will prevent the Bendix from slamming into the ring gear so much , just match up a 12 volt solenoid with your current 6 volt one and you're good to go .
