Sometimes, and sometimes not the innermost part of the car hub where the grease seal fits inside will rub the backing plate and give a grinding sound. Wears off and doesn't seem to hurt anything but dressing off just a few thousandths will take car of it. Some put a 0.015 or so shim between the inner bearing race and the shoulder on the spindle. Down and dirty you can back the spindle nut off a quarter turn or so, drive 10 miles down a winding road and when you tighten the nut back up the grinding will be gone. It's rumored that the ground off filings aren't the best fodder for ball bearings but that may just be an old wives tale.
