261 or 292 engine choices

I've seen a valve cover kit that allows a person to put the early valve covers on late model engines although it sure looks like an early engine....Big Tim

 

Maybe they are claiming it is something it is not. How ever the posts still state that it is a 292??? Go figure, But no matter what it is, it sure sounds GREAT.

 

Yes it does sound good but after looking it over again I noticed that the intake ports are rectangular indicating to me that the engine is probably a 292. the intake ports on the earlier 6's are round....Big Tim

You blew it for me! Everyone was supposed to just look (NOT CLOSELY~ IT IS A GMC AFTER ALL!!!) and "listen".

Of course you were supposed to end up thinking, "Wow, now THAT is a MANLY truck!"

Now that the bowtie is out of the box, all I can say is, "Just think how a l-o-n-g block would sound..."

Relax Zig the 54 Jimmy is the best looking truck of all the G.M.C.'s but it's the blown bowtie that makes it perfect. Big Tim
