454 big block

hey guys, i've got a 83 longbed and the guy before me put this 454 in it. but i don't know what year the engine is, it has no emission equipment on it and i need all that stuff to get tags and i can find what parts interchange. Does anyone know where the numbers are on the block that can tell me what year the engine is. thank you

Go to www.mortec.com they have all the locations of the serial numbers on all Chevy engine. A quick and easy way to find out your head information is to pull the valve cover and look on the bottom casting. There should be 8 or more numbers. But, 454 heads were used a a variety of big blocks.
