Thank you, I love them all though, detailed or patina...as long as people keep them on the road it's a good thing and with people like Joe, we couldn't do it without him. I made contact with him thanks.
Question for the group.....I purchased a Fulton Visor (NOS) from Joe and I'll be painting the top of the visor the same color as the truck.......Here's my question.... Does the underside of the visor stay the factory green or do you paint it to match the truck as well? I've seen both ways done online but is there an upside to not painting it? The underside would he painted glossy black if I did it. Thought I'd ask what the correct way to do it is?
The original tag on the Fulton visors state to leave the flat green color.... but I have found that the original green primer is very thin & tends to fade pretty quick when exposed to the elements. I do not see an upside to leaving the underside the original green primer as you will have to remove the visor to repaint it after it starts to fade. I recommend to paint the underside to match the color of the truck before you ever install it. If you want the green underside.... you can repaint it with green aircraft etching primer & then top that off with a coat of Flat clear paint to seal it.
That's the exact info I was looking for. Thank you very much, eases my mind. I'll pick up a can of that etching paint and a clear coat can. Sir, that was very much appreciated!!! Thank you again....made my day!
I liked the flat green, glare from the sun can be a serious problem . Glad it all worked out for you .
