52 3100 diffential hardened gear washers.

Inspecting the original differential on a 52 3100. My question is do the spider gears and axle gears have hardened washer on them like the more modern differentials. While inspecting the differential I found that the gears do not have washers on them. I don't see any scaring or wear on the gears just seemed odd not to have them, but this is the first time working on a AD truck

I don't think they have washers. Here is an exploded view of the 1/2 ton rear end from the 1939-53 GMC Master Parts Book. Your Chevy uses the same parts.
