57 front fenders, what years will do?

I'm on the hunt for some good used front fenders for my 57 project. I see the catologues list the 57's separate and I'm wondering why. I guess what I'm getting at is could I use other years with some minor modifications?

It is my understanding that 55 2nd series thru 57 are all the same fenders but different grill designs. The hood changed in 57. Fenders changed in 58 due to dual headlamps.

57 is an entity of it's own-55 and 56 aren't the same and neither are 58-59

The only difference in a 55-56 fender from a 57 is a 57 has a hole for the grill. The grills are different and you could even use gmc fenders as they have different holes for the grills as well all you need is a welder
