6.2 l diesel in a 1950 chevy 1/2 ton

I've been toying with the idea of fitting a 6.2 L diesel in my truck. I'd like to retain the original front end if possible but upgrade to modern shocks, open drive shaft rear end, disc brake kit and extra leaf springs as neeeded to support the added 200 lbs or so of the 6.2. I would also likely box the inside frame rails at the motor/trans mount area for added frame strenght.

Any of you know if this has been done..sugestions, info etc?

I'm just looking to know if the 1/2 ton front axle/spindles will be strong enough to support the extra weight of the bigger 6.2l motor(like I said, I would box the frame, add disc brakes etc)

Well not sure. But I know I have seen a few napco chevys with a cummins I6 5.9L in them. It can handle that. But that is a lighter then a V8. If I were you I would run a old 12 Valve cummins 5.9. Great diesel that will outrun almost any other. 24 valve was good but I really liked working on the 12. Good luckk
