MY dad has a 61 Apache 10 with an old original rearend. He was wandering if there was a rearend that would bolt to his control arms. I know some of the midsize cars like 79-82 Lemans has a control arm on it, as some Olds do as well. Will that type of rearend bolt to the control arms of a 61. My Dad is missing the front part of the rearend, that the drive-shaft bolts to, as well as the drive shaft itself, or would it be easier put a 63-66 rearend in it. The truck is a short bed and seems to be a little harder to find a driveshaft for. -Russ-

I own both a 60 & 61 Apache 10 and swapped out rear end from
a 68 long wheel base pickup. Look for one with a 350 if at
all possible. Line up both rear ends together, take some good
measurements, and take the new rear end to a machine shop and
have the mounting brackets shaved off, moved and rewelded to
line up with your 61's control arms. It costed about $95.00
and I've ran the same rear end for the past 8 years...I'm not
sure of one that will bolt right up...hope this helps.

Appreciate the reply, Its got to be a lot easier to get one from a 68 than to find a 61, there just not around where I live, unless there already fixed up. will print the info for my dad, thanks you much -Russ-
