i have a 69 shortbed that im going to put a 700r4 in
i have 3in drop in the front and 5 in the back
im going to remove the 2-piece drive shaft and put in a 1-piece shaft
does anyone know how long of a drive shaft i need
thanks

The correct way of doing that is to measure after the trans is in.
Measure from the output of the trans to the center of the Rear end yoke.

THEN, head out to a wrecking yeard and find a drive shaft close to, but longer than, your measurement. Take that driveshaft to a driveline shop and have them shorten, replace the rear universal joint, add a TH350 slip yoke in the spline that matches your trans, and balance the whole thing. You want a TH350 yoke because the 700 R4 yoke has a vent hole that will have to be welded shut or you will have a leak everytime you park.

The refurbished drive shaft should run right about $100.
