I have just purchased a 74 C10 swb,it has a smallblock and a TH350, my problem is the trans will only select reverse,are there any quick fixes?,I can purchase a second hand box if necessary but living in the UK makes this slightly tougher, are all TH350 the same?.

There is a short tail TH350 and a long tail turbo 350

Not shore that as far as the shifter goes?. or the pointer?.
Now if it's a 350th the trans should unless some one changed the to a reverse pattern, but the then the linkage has to be set up. Do you Know where the ajustment for the shifter linkage is. ( You will have to losen the ajuster bolt on the left side of the trans, take the trans leaver on the trans push it all the way forward retighen the bolt on the slider ajuster,"make sure the the truck is blocked and the shifter is in the all the way to the top that should be Park" any time you try to move the leaver the key has to be in and on but not start to move it. Start the truck keep the brake on put in reverse let off the brakea little to see if the truck goes in reverse. If it does brake try to put in Drive to see if it goes forward, if it does trun off the truck trun keys to run but do not start the truck. "Gentle" go throw the gears to check that they all work. Now it the all the way forward trans lever is low or first then pull it all the way to the back of the trans and redo the same set as said. Now the shifter pointer for reg shifting goes on the right side. For reverse shifting trans you can try to put the shifter pointer clip on the top left part of the stearing housing. ) Now it you still can not get any other gears that the trans is locked in side need a rebuild
