Body or the interior?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Nov-30-04 AT 06:41 PM (CST)]I've owned my 86 GMC Sierra 1500 4x2 with a 4.3L V6 for a few years now and would have to say it's the best vehicle I've ever owned. Other than having the carb rebuilt, the engine which has over 250,000 KM runs like a charm (only burns blue at start up)! I orginally bought it to take care of those reno projects around the house but have lately been thinking of restoring it. The body is in pretty good shape with some rust around the rocker panels and a few character dents. The interior cab is clean but the front dash has a few cracks and the left armest pad needs replacing. Also, there is not much insulation (i.e. no carpet) on the floor and the ceiling is bare. The goal for the cab would be to make it a little more eye appealing and comfortable.

Where would you start first ... interior or exterior?

I suggest the interior. That way, if you end up having to replace a door piece (or something else) you won't have to worry about finding a matching color AND you don't have to worry as much about scratching!
I'm restoring an 81/82 (I'm not sure which he is exactly) and it seems easier starting from the inside out.

alright here is how i c it...you need to get comfortable in it b4 ne thing else...get everything on the inside looking ok and then start to look at the outside..casue u spend more time on the inside than u do looking at the out side...and for the blue smoke u need your valve seals changed..fyi. have fun bud...
