busted frame

i have a 1987 silverado v30 454 runing with 35 tires and about a week ago i almost wrecked it. the frame by the stering box completly broke off the truck and the stearing wheel just went limp. aperently it has been broke for awile due to the rust in the crack
has anyone ever seen this happen before? I am currently repairing it useing 1/4'' steel.

that place is a weak link on these trucks,I've never seen it personaly but i've heard of it happening before,theres a company that sells kit to fix it,i'll try to find the mag i saw it in.Karl
