cab roof

Boy, do I ever have lots of questions.

I have a 63 Chevy Fleetside.

Let me try to describe this: Drivers side, underside of the roof, at the top of the windshield, is completely rusted thru.
Not the top of the roof, but the underside, (under the ledge).

Got it ?

Are there patch panels for this? If so, where? If not, what do I do now??

I don't know of any pre manufactured panels but that may be the least of your worries. Read on.
The condition you describe is caused by the drip rails not being sealed and leaking. RIGHT NOW. Go out and seal the drip rails.

Unfortunatly, if you have rot there it will be found in other areas. When the drip rails leak, the water runs inside the cab inbetween the outside roof and the inside sheet metal, where it can't be seen. It runs down inside the windshield pillars ending up inside the kick panels where they meet the floor and rots those areas from the inside out. Most think this condition is caused by the tire kicking up water into the lower fender area, (another problem spot). It's not.

Inspect the kick panels and floor for rot and the door pillars. If you have any rot around the hinges in the pillars as well as the other areas, it may be time to look for a clean doner cab.

If you get lucky and just need the overhang panel you described, look for a clean cab in a bone yard that you can get that piece from.

dvalentine knows his stuff (as usual )....the cab may not be worth saving if it has leaked too badly. Just for reference, I bought a new cab here in Oregon for $150 at my local wrecking yard. 95% rust-free!
