Cab Swap

I swap them because it had been damage also rusted. Are you talking about the two rear cab mounts they are deeper in depth . can this be fixed?
 
the trans hump don't matter because there is a 1 1/2" lift on
the body but what i am haveing trouble with is the 2 rear cab
mounts. they seem to be futher in depth from the chassie then the other
4. They need extra lift at the back to come in line with the pan.
 
I believe that the body mounts are different for a 4x4 and a 2x4. Try using the 4x4 mounts.
 
I am using new mounts which when i order them the part number
was the same for 2wd and 4wd.
 
Just curious,when you say body mount,do you mean the part that is welded to the bottom/under side of the cab..or the bushing..or the bracket riveted to the frame? I called a guy in Ga. today to talk about a cab for my "79" dually,and he said if I want a cab with the factory doghouse cut-out I have to get a 4wd cab.My truck is 2wd and I want to know what I need to look for.
 
do you know if the rear bracket that is riveted to the frame
that supports the cab is the same on a 2wd as a 4wd.

I have done a 2wd to 4wd cab swap on an 77 model frame and the you will have to use a 2 inch body lift because of the difference in the hump in the floorboard and the cab mounts on the back are different i had to use the two inch body lift and a 1 and a 1/2 inch more spacer to line it back up with the back bed. I have a 2wd 78 which has the doghouse that you're talking about, but it was a 4spd truck. I think all of the 4X4's and manual transmission 2wd trucks have the large hump/doghouse, but I don't know if it's exactly the same from model to model.
 
[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jun-21-03 AT 10:36 AM (CST)]i have seen people use hockey pucks as to using bought mounts cheaper and are very strong if u only need a few inches i've seen them use up to 6 on lifting a truck hope this may help:7
 
Cut or unbolt the center floor section from the damaged cab, and lay over the floor of the replacement cab.cut as necessary leaving enough room to drill holes and install fender clips.Cab wasotherwise
the same when I did the same swap. No mount problems at all
