This is just one of the things I think of from time to time, After hearing China has been bank rolling us for years and seeing the cousins on the other side of the pond are doing the same thing for the cars. I have been wandering where all that junk scrape is going to go, ..... China. During WWII our folks and Grandparents all sold or gave scrape for the cause, all China has to do is bank roll a cash for clunker deal on both sides of the pond.
Meanwhile , Back in Sunny So. Cal...... I went to several scrap yards from 8/20 ~ 8/23 and they all had LOADS of the klunkers , they added a silicone (glass beads) mix into the oil to destroy the engines but the rest of the vehicles were un damaged ~ I found lots of really nice cars that will never see the road again . As previously mentioned , the pollution created my the manufacture of new vehicles , is staggering . Plus of course , working class folks could have used those ' klunkers ' to stop riding the bus .
I liked it beter when we talked trucks~ I put up with your idiot for 8 years, now you get to put up with mine for 8. In the end, we'll see how it all plays out. I believe this guy has most (except the richest) of America in his thoughts and prayers. By the way, Bill~ Ask the teachers how they like the thought he put into the NCLB act. You just don't get it. Obama is a socialist. If that is what you want, fine. It is not what the country wants. By the way, the president of the US is suppose to look out for the welfare of all citizens. When did the richest Americans become a target of the government? As for No Child Left Behind, this was an attempt to hold a bunch of lazy teachers who had made tenure accountable. I don't agree with it either but I suspect it missed its intended mark because it was run by the government. The same government who wants to intrude on me and take over my health care. (I have noticed that you dems like to correct spelling to show how smart you are.) Face it, anything the government runs, sucks. The post office, medicare, medicaid, welfare, and yes, public education. Obama is making Bush look like a genius. This will be my last post. Well put, Gypsy! Over the course of my 55 years, there are 3 things that I've learned (the hard way) that one should not discuss. They are, in no particular order: 1. Politics 2. Religion 3. Women's weight Example: When is the last time you correctly answered the age old question-"Does this dress make my butt look big?"
Sounding off about the gov. or politics is kind of needed sometimes. It's like getting made about spending money on junk which will not work for your ride and you can not return it for your money back.
i also agree Gypsy, lets not let our feelings , beliefs, or whatever about politics, religion or anything else get in the way of why we are really here. because we love these trucks and working on them , and occasionally driving them. even if they are GMC , f**%&#d, or other! i learn so much here, i laugh here, and feel a special kinship with all heere. those topics are best left at home with beverage and like minded souls. we dont need to be pissin each other off unless its because your paint is better than mine .
Why don't we learn from mistakes of other people? Hello, it's the same discussion as in Germany. Cash for old cars. Now the money from the goverment is empty. 5 billions Euro are spend. Germans bought for over 32 billions new cars. And now? Cash for unemployeds. A new study said that over 90.000 jobs will be lost in the next years as a consequence of cash for old cars. Many of free garages that repair older cars have nothing to do. Cars dealer who sell new cars will sell the next years no or not so much new cars cause all of German idiots have bought a new car now and gave their good car which runs perfect to the junkyard. Wait unitl the next 2 years and you will get here in Germany cheap used cars. I found on the junkyard a Audi convertible build 1998, no rust no breakdown engine. A perfect car to be a daily driver. Yeah Well ; I don't feel sorry for GM ~ they've been peddling junk for 30 years now... I don't care for brand 'F' products either but they seem to be making it O.K. so it is possible without a Govt. handout . If the American car manufacturers made decent cars , we wouldn't be buying foreign imports . The only American vehicle I own is a 1949 Chevy pickup , it soldiers on as a work truck after 50 years , maybe an old Mercedes truck would do that but no other import truck will , I know , I've had 'em all . Sad but true ~ I drive 25 year old Import cars daily and love them . If any of my beloved old 6 Banger Chevies would handle as well as my Imported cars , I'd drive them instead of Imports but no , American car makers sell dreams , not good cars . This pisses me off to no end . I can make a ny old pre 1974 American car run forever cheaply but it'll be too dang slow , I'm not talking about blasting down the freeway @ 85 MPH , anything can do that . Oops ~ I'm ranting again , sorry all .
