Casting Number Help

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out what engine I have. The stamped ID numbers are II27H or TT27H or JJ27H. Couldn't tell for sure. Cast on the head were 3836848 and B or D 55848850.

On the Block 3837004 GM

Exhaust header 3838922

Check the archives of the forum for this same subject. Has been explored several times.

You didn't share whether it was a V8 or a six. Your 57 was standard with a 235 six cylinder. Had an optional 265 V8.

the engine block is a 55-57 chevy 235
the head is a 1956 chevy 235.
