O.K. , this again :
If you don't want to overhaul your old smoky & tired 235 , just to begin hitting up all the Task Force forums & web sites you can find , read older posts about Hor Rod building as they take the nice 235 out and plop in a SBC and then never manage to sell the old engine , even if it was recently rebuilt ~
A good used 235 engine should not cost over $200 , fan to clutch , 100 % complete and ready to run .
The few people who've taken my advice here , have gotten wonderful engines for cheap or FREE as after it sits in the back of the garage , out in the back yard under a tarp for a few years , the $$ signs in the sellers eyes fade a bit and reality sets in so when you reply to a 5 year old message and the " Cast Iron Wonder " is still available , you're in The Catbird Seat price wise....
Be nice please , but be realistic and don't go spending $1,000 on a takeout .
The venerable 235 Stovebolt engine was used in everything Chevy made from 1956 through 1962 so they're out there , heavy & unwieldy , a PIA to get rid of unless you're a shop ~ even the junkyards cannot sell the cylinder heads anymore .
