New life into a real truck
Thanks for the great posts about my truck and accepting my input. My daughter "the BOOPSTER" said "hey that's cool" but she doesn't have the courage to post yet. The pictures on the link that was given brings to close to home the work that we put into the BOOPS 53. She says it's a real mans truck, not one of those wimpy new things.
I was asked for more info on the 53. Well we were pretty rough on the ol gal at first. The man we bought her from advised us that she had been in storage for 9 years and that the original owner had an un-named someone do some work on her. Well she had been coon-fingered (raccoons have to get there little fingers into everything) so much that it took a 47chevy, a 50 gmc (inside cab) and a 51 chevy to provide all the parts that were missing.
It did not start out as a frame off, but in an attempt to make it safe for the BOOP, it ended up that way. We sand blasted it (100%), 1 coat of self etching primer, then months of body work, sanding primer and more body work. She got new (safe) life from a 80 model camaro front end clip, and third member. The rest of the truck is original down to polishing the original stainless screws.
if interested I can upload more pics and details. I am looking forward to putting her back together, still waiting on the painter (cousin has a paint and body shop and are taking their time).
Then looking forward to the falcon, then the 51 that is patiently waiting for some love.
