Dash Problem

I am working on a 54. The radio speaker grill has been mangled of course and I am thinking of installing a screened gps/radio unit. Does anyone have suggestions as how to mount it or any brand name units that work better than others, etc.?

Can't help with brand names but often it's easier to just replace the butchered area with new sheet metal that you can cut to fit whatever unit you choose. Here is several examples of filled dashes with holes cut to accommodate a radio or an a/c unit.
