Engine Swap

I have a 72 Chevy C10 with a Target Master 350 in it. I'm looking to put in a later model Vortec engine and tranny in it and was wondering what problems and challenges I'm looking at. Also, what year engine would be a good choice for this project??

OK st start what year vort ..
is the trans a 700r4 with t.v. cable or is it elec controled..
engine bolts in with trains ..trains crossmember is moved back..(mount is different.)driveshaft shortened(u'll need the train yoke)
the computer ect ...isn't worth it (trottle body )
change the intake edelbrock makes one and add carb.. or find a tunedport set up and add vortex intake for use with tunedport..
