Hey guys, it's me again. Alright I really need to get an answer on this. I have a 1960 Chevy Fleetside Truck 1/2 ton. The guys at No Limit said that I could use their bed kit and turn it into a stepside. Is this true. Has anyone done this? I thought the stepside is named that becuase their is runner boards that go from the doors to the bed? Help me out guys

Fleetside into Stepside!??

Assuming that you have a short bed, as long as you are installing a stepside shortbed with the fenders, the "running boards" are only 12 inches or so. They go from the front of the rear fenders to the back of the cab, much like the 55-59 stepside pickups do. You won't have any problem at all fitting this bed in place of the fleetside because the running boards attatch to the bed and not the cab. I also thought about switching to the stepside on my '63 but I'm still on the fence. When you're done send some pictures!!
You can buy most parts new to build a longbed stepside. The fenders are the same as the shortbed as is the front panel and tailgate. The side bed panels need to be the longer size along with the bed wood and bed strips. The folks at Chevy Duty has everything mentioned above. You may have to find the longbed steps used though.
By the way, I think the 115" wheelbase is the shortbed. The long bed wheelbase is 123".
