    Hi all,

i`m right in the middle of trying to fix some oil leaks on my 228 GMC, to get
my truck ready for DOT inspection...

Now i want to remove the front balancer and can?t find any screws or nuts,
    to get it off?

I read, that you just need a puller, to remove, but wanted to confirm with
you guys here, before i damage something seriously...

Thank you for your help or input;)

    Balancer Removal

Yes, You need to use a "Balancer Puller" using the 2 bolt holes in center section of balancer, DO NOT try pulling from the outside edge as you will destroy balancer.

    another tip

When you go to reinstall it insert two short bolts in the puller holes and tighten down. Use a wood block centered on the balancer and tap it into place. The bolts will reduce potential damage to the internal rubber dampner and balancer when installing. When it bottoms out on the crank remove the two bolts and you are ready to go.

Thank you all for your help, it did work perfectly, i made a puller out of some scrape metal, it has done the job.

Hopefully the engine is tight now for a while...
