you have your voltage reducer on the wrong post
the voltage reducer goes on the power post, the one with the "E" for empty

your power and voltage reducer should go on the post with the brown wire in your pic.

the wire from the sender will attach to the post with the "F" full

if you put power to the sender post you could damage your gauge.

Also you state you have a new harness and gauge
Is the gauge new? Is it 12 volt?
You only need the reducer if your putting 12 volts on a 6 volt gauge

If your using 12 volt and a 6 volt gauge wire it like this

If your new gauge is 12 volt then eliminate the reducer

Very much appreciate the input. Yes I reused the 6v gauge so the resistor is a must. I will switch the wires and follow up on this thread. Thank you. I also plan on putting together a full thread of the progress of my truck will all the info I learned and hopefully pass along. These sites really help when your stuck.

    Tubby rocks!

The way he provides pictures and diagrams is off the hook!

The drive line post is a perfect example of that!

And then there is that Bill Hanlon guy~ He'd take the time to walk me through an idea over the phone even if he was in the middle of swimming laps in his pool!

Heading to the cement pond in a few minutes if you want to call. No laps, just chillin' with a smoothie and the Sunday paper.
