fusible link?

Well there is is about up to three fuseable link in the 73-87 trucks.

Some can correct me if this is not right, they will say a # on them. I beleave that they one grade lower or one # higher then the wire grade used.
 
I'll have to get a book on wiring to see which ones they are. The guy that had the truck before me replaced a lot of engine compartment wiring with solid core 12 and 14 guage wire. I have been trying to replace it by using the wiring diagrams in my Haynes and Chilton's, they show me the schematic with wire color but not what guage wire.
So I guess it's back to the junkyards to do some "research" and maybe score some wiring hernesses.

es most of it would be 14 or 12,in the engine bay the starter would have one 10 I beleave to firewall or the ALT. I do not rember now unless I see it again
 
In your Haynes manual, the number that appears before the color is the gauge of the wire. the number after the color is the circuit,so you can trace it plug-in to plug-in on the diagram. Also fusible link is two (2) sizes smaller than the wire it is protecting.

That great have not worked on the engine wire for some time now, I could not remember for sure what it was.
