headers

i am looking to put a set of ceramic headers on my 66.i moved my motor forward 2 inches. my regular long headers are to low,they extend below the frame,and i dont want to see that.i tried a set of heddman shorty headers but they hit the frame.does any of you guys have anything else that works.im pretty sure block hugger 2 works.i really like the look of a shortty header. any advise or input would be great.

Jegs sells a tight tuck header that might do the trick. PN# 737-H8052-1 they are made by Patriot. These are shorter the shorties.

Take a look at 3/4 length headers for a Camaro... I had the same setup as you, with a 700 r4 trans, and that's what I used. BE AWARE that some will have a problem with the left motor mount perch !! When shopping, look at the #1 cylinder tube placement and determin if it will have a clearance problem. I can't remember who made the one's I used...
If your ride has a manual trans, forget what I just said. The z-bar will have clearance issues as well.

i am going to a 700r4.when i change everything over.i borrowed a buddys headders for a chevelle and a chevy II.they are the same length as truck.texas what are the name and type that you are talking about.also i cant afford guess they will fit most wont take them back.thanks for your help and support.

If the motor is in the factory location, and not moved forward, a set of Shortie Street Rod headers will just clear the front crossmember. A good exhaust guy will be able to run the exhaust up to those headers with no problem.

the biggest problem is the tubes comming off the heads.it is so close to the frame,the frame gets narrower when the motor is moved forward.and also when it is forward the lower A arm becomes another issue.

With the motor forward, shortie street rod headers will not work, ( ask me how I know ! ) Most of those style headers have the collector tube coming straight down and pitch out slightly. That places it way too close to the front crossmember and the control arms.
The 3/4 Camaro header worked perfect for me allowing my exhaust to be tucked up above the frame rail.
