Her name was Carol Foos, not sure on the spelling though. My sister was her roommate at BHSC or BHTC (Spearfish) or whatever it was back in the late sixties/early seventies. Can't say I knew her well or anything, just remember her stopping by my parents house in RC.
Yea, I don't know her very well, but her dad lives a couple blocks down the street from me and a couple of her brothers and a sister still farm here. I thinks its spelled Fuoss, but sounds the same. It's a small world...but not as small as Draper! See ya around
If nothing else, it is good to hear those old family farms are still going. Man that's a tough business to be in these days!
Hey, y'all! I have to say that I had some good times growing up in 80's and 90's, but I'm sure some of the other youngsters here will agree with me when I say it sounds like you had blast back when life was a little simpler. Kinda wish I could have been there. Josh
Exit strategy Simpler times for sure. Sell my practice and start over way out East on Long Island in farm country. Not the pretentious Hamptons of the south fork, but the rural splendor of the North fork farmlands. Slower, simpler and more peaceful for sure. Andy
Simpler yes but not all as perfect as we'd like to remember , scary times , in 1961 the threat of nuclear war was very great indeed , Nikita Kruschef (SP !) went to to toe with John Kennedy and Kruschef blinked . Whew ! . In case you don't know what I'm referring to , Russia put some nuclear missles in Cuba , pointed directly at the U.S. , what , 75 miles away ? . no time to react if they'd shot them off . If was an interesting time in America , much changing and social upheavals , I was never overly impressed with the Hippies although I did have long hair for a while . To - day's youngsters seem rather more aware to me so I think we're in good hands all in all . -Nate
Oops ! ' C.R.S. ' syndrome strikes AGAIN ! I keep telling you guys : pay no nevermind to anything I say
Boys, stop arguing! You're both right. April 1961, Bay of Pigs invasion. Oct 1962, Cuban Missile Crisis. Both nearly sent the world into WWIII, and it wouldn't have been pretty!
Boys, stop arguing! And let's not forget the year before (1960) when the U2 spy plane was captured. This one I don't actually remember, so I cheated and googled it. Bob
I still think I should take the Gameboy and the computer away from my daughter and get her the dirtbike she wants so that she can have some of that 'old time fun'.......outdoors where it is supposed to be..............at least she does not have a cell phone .......... she watches pro rodeo and motocross on tv............
I Don't See Any Arguing.... I agree with taking the gameboy away but not the 'puter as she'll have to be proficient in thier use to suceeed . besides , once you give her a Moto and some MSF training , the gameboy will loose much of it's allure . I agree , making the out of doors enticeing to to - day's kiddies , is a good thing . I simply locked my son out of the house and told him to go explore , gave him one or two pointers and he was off , just like me . he quickly learned about life outside the Ghetto where I live , he's a happy normal young adult who gets along with pretty much everybody now . He still likes the video games but they don't rule his life like they did before .
LOL , I guess locking them out would work. She is really good on the puter though, will have to keep that. She comes outside if she sees me out there on the tractor or with the horse. Just have to find more time to go fishin and camping........she loves those. Been trying to think of a home based business that she could do on the puter, if she is going to be on it.
Just a short note . My first car was a 1935 Ford, second was 1926 Packard , third was a 1940 Mercury convertible I chopped top put a Carson top on and leaded in all mldgs. Stroked engine ,three carbs and raced it at Santa Ana drag strip. ( I think I might want another one).
Who remembers pinball machines? Not the new ones with the digital readouts that took 2 million points to beat? I'm talking about the ones that you put a quarter in and you got 3 games, bells every time you hit a bumper, specials, 5 steel balls, tilt, a cold brew sitting on the glass, not to mention a cigarette carefully placed on the end of the machine to impress the chicks
It was even more impressive when you put your hand down on the cigarette that you carefully placed "just so". Kinda like rolling down the road with your babe at your side~ just finished your smoke when you go to throw it out the window that wasn't rolled down. My, how that cherry can light things up when it falls between your legs and your 'tang is rolling along at 60MPH..
Man does the pinball wizard still visit your place. I gave up the cigs, but still like a shot of the video games now and again.
Who Could Forget ? A buddy of mine was the manager of Pinball City in Pasadena in 1971 , that was a LOT of fun ! . There was an Orange Julius next door , remember those ? .
