I wanted to write and say that anyone that has enough guts and patience to rebuild a truck should be commended for all of the hard work and dedication that is truely put into a restoration. Anyone may be able to buy a restored but to truely appriaciate something you first must care for it.

It is a work of love.

Just reply and tell about your experiences from restoring classic trucks.

for myself I am seventeen and am about mid way though a 1972 K-10 short wheel base. Though my funds may be a bit limited it always works out and I am proud to say that I did it myself.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I see a nice rig is, "did ya build it or buy it?" Granted in my forties, I have less displeasure with the response that it was bought, then in years gone by. I bought my 1950 Chev 1/2 ton 5 window when I was 17. Still got it, still always in some phase of restoring it. 3rd engine, 2nd trany, needs a another paint job,lots of blood, sweat and money, but mostly great memories going all the back to my teens. It is truely an old friend that I know better than any other thing in my life. (Honey, if you read this, I've known the truck longer and you are much more complicated.) Good luck on your truck.

I just thought of piece of advice that I might pass on. I have owned my truck for 24 years. I am still looking forward to the day that I will have fixed all of the things I did to it when I was young due to being foolish and being broke. (e.g. hacking up the splash plate and upper radiator support, rather then buying the short shaft water pump. I did fix this one years ago.) I know it is hard to do with the inpatience of youth, but do it right the first time and you will thank yourself later.
