I'm working on my 62 Chevy 1/2 ton. The truck has a standard heater. I have changed the dash control to the deluxe model which I took from a 2 ton. I will not be using the air knob on the control.
I think the blower speed control switch is the same for the standard and deluxe. Right?
The deluxe heater has a resistor mounted in the back side of the air box. The wires going to this resistor are yellow, orange, and blue. There is only an orange wire going to the blower motor, where it plugs into the motor.
My standard heater air box has a hole in the same place as the deluxe heater does. I do not have what ever was in the hole. The resistor in the deluxe heater does not fit into this hole. The resistor bolts into the the deluxe heater. What ever went into the hole on the standard heater was just held in by sheet metal clips on the air box.
My standard blower motor has 4 wires coming out, black, orange, yellow, and green. The deluxe motor just has a plug that the orange wire plugs into. I do have the factory wiring from the deluxe heater. The deluxe blower motor appears to be larger than the standard motor.
My standard blower motor as I recieved it had the yellow and orange wires together with a wire nut. The green wire had a round lug on it so I suspect it was a ground wire. The black wire had a plug in spade terminal on it so I assume it was the power wire. As this was wired it may have just worked on one speed.
I don't konw how it should be wired.. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or know the correct way.
