Idler arm bracket

Idler arm bracket and PN GURU help!!!

Does anyone know where I can source an idler arm bracket/support for a 73-87?

One more thing, I thought 73-87 were all interchangeable.

I looked at Rock Auto and did some research. 73-82 Idler Arm is the same MOOG PN K6096T

from 1983-1987 the MOOG PN changes to K6247T.

Can one of you PN Gurus tell me what the difference is???

Looks like LMC sells the '83-'87 idler support bracket (34-1161) for $50, would probably be fairly easy to go to a junkyard or find someone parting out a truck.

There were some changes made over the years, aside from the obvious aesthetic one made in 1981. Upgrades that were integrated into brakes and steering, replacing the rear axle, moving the wipers to the column, etc. They may have only changed the threads or the taper of the joints on the idler arm, and that would be enough to require a new part.

I hope the frame wasn't rusty/flexed/cracked where it attaches ? .

If so it's not any problem, have your local Frame & Alignment Shop " Fish Plate " the frame where it bolts . then install it , you're good to go .

good points. Luckily, my frame is in very good shape so I'm GTG. Now to order tie rods and idler arm.....
